Probably because the rumor was so weak to begin with that it couldn't stand anymore and the trolling was rampant.

Yup. One guy played the game at an event and said it was 720p. Famous runs with it without any confirmation and now we are in this situation.

then cboat said the same and then the MS PR guy didnt deny the rumor. 

1. CBOT has to say the same thing because just the other day he said games wouldn't be 1080p on the XB1. There would be exceptions though.

2. Sony's PR guy aslo couldn't confirm for his game either. So where does that put us?
