I can't agree with this when the N64, PS1, and SNES all had better launch line-ups, particluarly when judging variety.

I disagree. N64 launched with 5 games in my country. Albeit one of the greatest games ever. PS1 was not great, and released with 6 games, Ridge Racer being the best.

Snes was the only console with a chance. It released with Only 5, but 3 of those were Super Mario World, F - Zero and Pilotwings.
