Anybody else think Bravely Default is FF 3's spiritual sequel?

Since when? Actually no they don't. Because they aren't main series. The numbered FF's are main because they started the whole series and started to get sequels in form of a numerical system. Why do you think that they are the most hyped by people  in the whole series.

Michael yet again countered what you said. The spin-offs doesn't have a connection to the numbered ones, while the numbered ones are connceted and started the series. Thus making it mainline.

The game is called FF: The 4 Heroes of Light Gaiden in Japan. Gaiden translates roughly into "Side Story."
