In the first half of my second year of university I did pretty bad because I lived in a dorm and played a lot of video games on my PC. The first year I got away with it and got good marks simply because I did very well in high school and most of the stuff I was taking at university I had already taken there (first year university calculus, etc).

After I saw my marks I literally unplugged my PC and put it in the closet in my dorm room and swore I wouldn't take it out for the rest of the term. I didn't and ended up getting very good marks. Unfortunately the same can't be said for my third year in which I became addicted to a video game and didn't stop (I was living off campus then, had a bad breakup, and simply didn't care).
