You don't really need either. Just pick your parts (plenty of us on here would be happy to help you with that I'm sure) and follow a build guide. There are plenty on the internet and it doesn't take long. Even your first build shouldn't take any more than a couple hours. You'll save yourself a few hundered bucks doing it yourself, and you'll learn something new.
I really can't recommend doing your own build enough. Especially with Newegg sales, the money you save is ridiculous for the small amount of work you have to do.
