I try to have a fairly positive outlook on things. Cynical outlooks bother me in all aspects of life.

One thing I find particularly annoying is the "[game] was the best game in [series], and it's been all downhill since then" stance. I think more often than not it's presumptuous of someone to label a game as "better" than another -- but that doesn't bother me when it's done in a positive fashion. For example, "GTA V is the best game in the series! It's really good!" wouldn't bother me a bit. Someone really likes the game, and is expressing their opinion. On the other hand, a statment like, "GTA peaked with Vice City, everything since then is garbage," would get on my nerves. Even though this is still essentially someone who really likes a game expressing their opinion about it, they're muddying up their positive opinion about one game with a bunch of negative stuff about something else, and it feels like they're telling people who enjoy the newer GTAs that they're wrong for doing so.

This doesn't mean games should get a free pass from criticism, even great games. I love hearing people who like a game overall talk about the parts of it they were dissatisfied with.

People who think Majora's Mask is the best Zelda game also irk me, but that's more of a pet peeve than an annoyance. I have nothing against them. I just respectfully disagree. But when Zelda fans are given the option between a remake of MM and an entirely new title in the series and choose the former, that riles me up a bit, and nonsense like that is the reason Majora's Mask die-hards rub me the wrong way.
