Actually, I can easily understand why they would need more tests. Not all genres perform equally well on all platforms. The Wii has a very new type of userbase and what will or won't sell to them is a mystery still. Testing the waters with some genres and going headlong into it with others makes a lot of sense.
What an absurd question. They would make a better game because it would sell better and make them more money. The better a game is, the better it sells. Putting more effort into games on a system that sells your software very well will result in a large increase in profit due to increased sales.
