I use to go to a lot of Fighting game tournaments and the reason why most are on the PS3 is not because of the Dpad. No real competitive gamer uses a Dpad instead they will use a custom joystick made somewhere outside of the US or they will pick up one of the already built high end sticks made with arcade parts. Fighting game players go to the system that has the bigger gaming base and that is the PS3. The PS community is larger on the PS3 than the Xbox and this is the reason why most game on the PS3. |
Um....no. The reason fighting fans are on Playsation is because the Playstation was the console which caused the transition from arcade gaming to console gaming for fighting enthusiasts. The directional pad was a small part of the picture inspired by the SNES D-Pad, but a part of it none the less when the Xbox and Gamecube generation came into the equation. It wasn't a big deal when consumers placed their bets on their favorite consoles. All the major fighting games could be handled on consoles at that point. Battle Arena Toshinden, Tekken, Soul Blade, Bloody Roar, you name it the Playstation had it. There was no need to go to an arcade. You even had fighters like Bushido Blade which never made it to the arcade (LOL Everyone would die and lose their quarters).
