It is, so long as it isnt something that happens a lot.  But this is extremely unlikely as I doubt people will place their consoles in a small perspex box with zero air circulation (almost a thermos flask).

do you know if microsoft have a similiar thing for the X1? doubt it would ever need it seeing how big it is and how much they focused on ventilation but just got curious

What I've read so far about the XBoxOne is that it can regulate the speed of the CPU/GPU? and down grade the performance if its running too hot... it's been mentioned a couple of times by MS... but I would be surprised if they dont have some form of "Turn off too hot" message as well.
