Same here; I was supremely underwhelmed by it's E3 showing, it looked so bland and basic. 

That's completely changed since the latest trailer, where we finally saw some really clever ideas and that Mario elegance of design that seemed to be missing before.

Now it's a day 1 purchase for me.

Took the words right out of my mouth. That first trailer looked like the most generic Mario game, like a 3D Land in HD. I love the music as well and I look forward to what Nintendo brings in terms of innovation of gameplay for this title. I still want something like Galaxy, or 64, but this is definitely a step in the right direction.

Most certainly week one purchase if not day one, for me.
