Overreacting Sony Fan detected....we already knew we will hear something about Zelda after hearing a lot about the reveal from Iwata, Miyamoto, Aonuma. And btw. It's Zelda for a home console. There will be always hype for it.....

overreacting? so expressing something that is as clear as day is now overreacting. very mature response.

you tell me, has nintendo's marketing strategy been any good? there will always be hype for a franchise within its fanbase, but outside that fanbase you need to market the game to get other gamers excited about it, and nintendo's efforts in that regared has been utter shit lately.

If you are a gamer, you will hear about any game announcement throughout the year, E3 is no longer this "magical" place is used to be.

If you want to surprise people, you can do it whatever the hell you want. Post on Facebook or Twitter with a link to a video of a new game on a random date, with a Nintendo Direct, etc. It has the exact same effect as announcing the game during E3.

You are mentioning people outside of a fanbase, but guess what? those Sony and MS fans also check gaming news, just a quick look at IGN and you will see "Nintendo announces new Zelda Wii U [Trailer]",just to give an example; that has the same effect as showing the game at E3.

But if you are talking people who don't check gaming news, then E3 covers you, what we knew about months in advance, for them, it will be a surprise. But at any rate, what Soriku said is true, a surprise means nothing in terms of sales, unless you release the game the same day or a day after the announcement.
