A few things:
1) UK =/= All of Europe (and that seems like a low UK number, is that up yet)
2) VGC preorder numbers are not the most accurate at times, combine this with the fact that pre-order numbers do not translate as accurately to first-day sales for Nintendo games as they do for others.
3) I would be pleasantly surprised if Japan did greater than B/W launch (I think that was 2.6m) but not shocked.
Also I'm not sure if this includes digital, I suspect this will be a big digital game for Nintendo.
