I can definitely vouch for Resonance of Fate. Great battle system and amazing soundtrack, good characters and unique setting. The story is minimalistic but still decent.

Ishiki mentioned that the battle system doesn't change but I think that's missing the point. What makes battles in RoF unique throughout is the different battlefields, the types of enemies, and enemy placements. Every RPG gets repetitive at some point yet despite the criticisms of RoF being repetitive, I'd honestly say RoF has more unique encounters than a lot of RPGs. Unfortunately some people can't really see that...

Be sure to try it at some point.

When you play it... RoF just feels repetitive to many. Partially due to the story going nowhere. Partially to the environments looking exactly the same. Whilst there are probably more unique battles (armor placements, etc). there's also more generic long battles in succession that you must play to play the more unique battles. These generic battles become worse because there aren't any new things added to the battlesystem with many using the same arena's or tactics. Wherea's most JRPG's throw  new forks or abilities in along the way for you to play with or cover them p with better pacing.

If you cut out a lot of the fluff and adjusted progression accordingly it would be a much better game.

As it stands imo, It's definetly a very unique good game to play for a while, and if for some reason you don't get bored it remains a good game for longer.
