You're conveniently using that statement in isolation. The fact is that the industry's big games (save for Guitar Hero and Rockband) had completely moved on to the 7th gen. The PS2 was the undisputed leader of its generation; yet, was it getting Modern Warfare in 2007? Bioshock? Assassin's Creed? Mass Effect?
The industry had moved on in the PS2's 7th year (to say nothing of its 8th year), and that's a fact. Stop arguing for the sake of arguing.
