will the PS4 and X1 suffer next year like the WiiU did this year? (sales wise)

I believe they will struggle due to how PS360 are currently selling. Current sales are fairly consistent and most multiplat games are coming out for both gens so it really doesn't persuade people to upgrade right away. No one I know is interested in buying one, at least not at launch.
