A shiny is a differently colored Pokemon. They're super rare in the wild.

First time playing Pokemon? :p The doberman Pokemon is called Houndour (evolves into Houndoom). The thing you should know is that its mega stone is exclusive to Pokemon Y. You can get the pokemon itself from a friend who owns Pokemon X, but I doubt they'll be willing to give you the stone itself. Funny little way of encouraging connectivity, cool I guess :)
