You're forgetting one:
Has nothing to do with the analogue placement.
I prefer keeping my thumbs symmetrical, whether that be using the symmetrical sticks on the PS3 controller or the left analogue stick and face buttons on the 360. The sticks and face buttons are very close together on the PS3 controller though, so no control scheme really feels "wrong" on the controller.
