Maybe they realise people won't pay for DLC on Wii U when it seems that Nintendo is intent on providing it for free.
I don't doubt that it will hurt sales to some extent, particularly for those people with multiple consoles who will do a tick-box comparison. In the end thought I don't think it should matter that much to too many people given the purchase rate for most DLC, but I can understand people not liking it in principle.
