I know part of the reason why is they think their stores will go under soon and most will lose their jobs. And that may happen, but their actions lately have only made it worse for them.
They haven't been able to rely on the selling of games and hardware for a long while. So they started selling used games, and hardware. Selling used software cause lots of controversy and outrage from developers. But they plowed through anyway.
The fear of going all digital seems to have really hit them. The original used game policy would have been good for them, but they fought it. Seems to me they are in many ways, their own worst enemy.
