I wanted to believe Nintendo on how they promised third party support for Wii U (they made SO much money with Wii/DS). But it seems they thought to have the same kind of success with Wii, by only focusing on casuals and little on core gamers. The casuals left to those stupid smartphones/tablets, and core gamers have nothing exciting to buy for Wii U. Iwata did some good things, but this kind of approach for a next generation console is unacceptable. Only die-hard Nintendo fans (like me) will buy the Wii U eventually, but I won't recommened it to anyone else.
It is already over for Wii U because Iwata thinks to attract third party's eventually by proving Wii U third party exclusives can indeed be succesful. Actual quote from Iwata:
"By giving sales momentum to Wii U through our first-party software in the short run and seeing success from third-party software within this year, we would like to dramatically change the situation of Wii U next year and beyond." That's the plan, anyway.
I don't think the 5K TW101 did will convince third party to develop for Wii U. This quote is basically saying (in the case third party exclusives are succesful) that it will take at least 2 years for new third party games to come, because it takes so much time to make a game. But nobody IS making a game and nobody WILL be making a game. I'm a big Ninty fan, but Iwata did a terrible TERRBILE job with Wii U, unbelievable. It is time to change approach (fire Iwata?)
