Happiness of the lobbyists and of the military industrial complex.

Or, more accurately, the jewish vote/money...

Can't really see that being the case.

Afterall the Jewish vote is very tiny, and unlike the rest of the world, Jewish people skew very liberal in the US thanks to mostly escaping the worst problems anti-semitism has caused.

So they tend to vote hugely democratic.  Even though republicans are the more pro israel party.  The modern "Jewish lobby" is greatly exagerrated by conspiracy theorists usually because a lot of the conspiracies picked up by them were originally created by antisemites.

It's really just more, paying for a permanent ally in the middle east that won't ever buck the leash so to speak.

Due to previous history every other population in the middle east defaults to "really don't trust and dislike".  Sure you can offer support and money and they'll work withy the US for the money... including nearby countries like Egypt and Pakistan... and yet.  The population dislikes the move so much, that it's soemthing that eventually can't hold.

While Israel?  It doesn't really matter what we do.  They have generally positive views of the US, and are surrounded by enemies.  So long as they're being fronted money, promised military support and shown favortism in military hardware sales... they couldn't really care less with who else we do buisness with.
