Expecting it to do inline with what 3D Mario tends to do in most cases so we can expect anywhere from 6.63 million to 12 million. Although I expect to see a bit of decline to be honest. Mostly because they are pissing off 2D Mario fans by putting all the stuff they want in a 2D Mario game in a 3D one. So being toxic to that audience I wouldn't expect a lift above traditional 3D Mario games and the compromises of 2D Mario may deter some of those 3D Mario fans.

I feel this way as well. Nintendo's behavior the past couple years and decision making has been utterly baffling to me. The half assing of 2d Mario games (which is a stronger seller unequivocally) while the majority of freshness and resources go to 3d mario which has a much lower sales baseline makes no sense.

Further, it creates hostility within the fan base which I think will cause 3d World to sell maybe less than sunshine.

It's funny cause years ago I couldn't see anything get in the way of Mario and his sales domination. Leave it to Nintendo to prove me wrong and be the very source of it no less.  I hope it does better than Sunshine. Competition is really healhty for the industry.  Thank god Pokemom, Smash and Mario Kart seem to still hold thier audiences and haven't been put through the ringer as such. If they ever start getting consumer hostile with those series it could really mean bad things for even Nintendo's domination in the handheld arena as well which is also generally thought of as iron clad.
