As for Eska and Desna, Korra established before that they weren't exactly close. And as you heard Eska blames Korra for Bolin leaving her. Heck hath no fury like an Eska scorned. That and there was no guarantee that she was alive...or in this realm. What were they supposed to do, swim the entire ocean looking or her?

I can understand it, but that doesn't make it less frustrating and annoying for me to watch.

No, they should have helped before things got to that point. Sure they weren't close to Korra, but they're still jerks for just watching.
