Sims and MMO's is PC territory, lots of free MMO's around today.
Shooters it's a mixed bag, generally most shooters are on the PC and they also look better with better framerates and better controls. (I.E. Want Kinect? Want a Playstation controller? Or perhaps the venerable Keyboard and Mouse?)
If you intend to keep the PC for many years and maybe upgrade it on the odd occassion and if you like to buy allot of games... The PC actually works out cheaper in the long run due to the cheaper games and free online access.
Plenty of PC exclusives that will never make it to consoles and plenty of console exclusives that won't make it to PC, so gauge which exclusives you would like most on each platform and work out which one would be a better fit for you.
Or you could always get the Playstation 4 or PC now, then get the other later. :)
