I don't think that parents should tell their kid that it is gay, bi or straight. To understand in which gender the kid is interested in is the kids "job" but it would be good if parents would raise their kids in a manner that the kid doesn't think that one is better as the other. If you raise your kid without prejudices and if your kid knows that it can tell you that it believes to be gay without any problems everything should be fine.
