10) Without doubt.
9) The Wii U basic was just a really, really bad idea. Developers hated this. Not what you want from "next gen".
8) Yes. There is more at stake than just sales. This made fans unhappy.
7) In business, you are responsible for yourself. No one owes you anything. Nintendo needed to fix this and they failed or simply did not try hard enough. The impression I get is that Nintendo didn't put in much effort outside Japan or unless it was a huge publisher like Activision or Ubisoft.
6) A few Nintendo fans might get angry with me over this one but I'm going to be honest. A Link to the Past is one of my favorite games ever. Zelda is a franchise that could have pushed me a lot closer to buying a Wii. Now, Skyward Sword might have been a really good game but it wasn't the Zelda that I wanted and I doubt that I'm alone. It felt like Zelda Wii, a Zelda game dressed up to make me buy into what the Wii was doing. As soon as I saw the first real gameplay, my interest turned to apathy.
5) I don't know enough to comment.
4) This was a negative for anyone used to one of the other consoles.
3) I don't know enough to comment.
2) They bungled it, no doubt, and had a lot of people angry. However, they recovered very well before the Vita had any chance to take advantage, so I think this should be much lower.
1) The lack of vision here is astounding. I have no idea what Nintendo was thinking would happen. They can recover but damn if they didn't put themselves behind the eight-ball.
