So if I go by the poll it seems like 12% see the Wii U as equal or less than current-gen systems.
While 21% view the Wii U as being equal or almost equal to next-gen systems due to diminishing returns or only a marginal or insignificant difference ala GCN vs original Xbox.
Most 66% believe that Wii U is somewhere in between PS360 and X1/PS4...with 40% responding that it is closer to the middle having a difference that maybe quite noticeable compared to next-gen but most definitely still above PS360. In short it will look like DC vs N64/PS1 when compared to PS360, but would look like DC vs GCN/original Xbox when it comes to "true next-gen" X1/PS4.
