I liked the battle system. That's about it. Emil is annoying for 95% of the game. He doesn't develop a spine until right before the climax. Marta sorta of drags but her character develops at a reasonable pace at least. Emil...not so much. He sort of reminds me of Luke from Tales of Abyss but he develops far far more slowly. He and Marta sort of have similar dynamic to Milla and Jude from Tales of Xillia's except Milla and Jude are simply better characters. The returning cast from ToS are essentially cameos and they are level locked. I'm not much for monster collection so that didn't help either. Honestly, the only thing that enabled me to finish the game was the battle system and seeing what the cast of ToS had been up to after the events of the first game.
