From what I saw, there were three separate demos for AC. Mine was the one where you sail up to a fort, destroy the defences, then get out, climb up and are tasked with killing a few captains. I was easily able to take down enemies as long as I could run towards them first: that was a one-hit kill. Otherwise, though... you can't block anymore, for one thing. Counters don't always work, especially when multiple enemies are attacking you at once. Guard breaking leaves you completely vulnerable, as do regular attacks. It's going to need a proper tutorial in the full game. I don't think such a short demo could accurately capture a game like that, but I hold onto my hope that it'll be the second best in the series (it'll never beat AC2). |
I saw that, but when they were resetting them all, he went through and put them all to open world demos, maybe they changed that up randomly. I was just plonked in the middle of the ocean with no objective
So I think basically the game needs to explain the combat system, since they have obviously changed it. Is this definitely no guard mode? The counters thing is interesting, since 2 guys attacking me at once got me excited for a double kill in the previous games, but in the 1 minor fight I got into, countering when they attacked didn't do anything. I agree, it has great potential, I just hope that I don't spend most of the game sailing round aimlessly
