Single-player progress won't carry over when upgrading some games to next-gen

That involves them investing in more cloud-based servers to save your game data, no? Involves more security coding to make sure you don't upload some sort of offline-created altered files, no?

Allowing single-player would mean that they'd have you authenticate you via being connected to psn/xbl while playing single player...I feel like it'd be too much work/effort on their behalf to such a small amount of people buying the cross-gen games.
