http://www.anandtech.com/show/7335/the-iphone-5s-review/9 The only one the SGS4 would win on is talk time, simply because it has a bigger battery to power the one component that's active during a phone call. So 35-55% more web browsing, a 75% faster GPU, 20-100% faster CPU (depending on how multithreaded your process is), even the touch screen is twice as responsive. Those are just some readily quantifiable advantages, we haven't even touched on the intangibles (heh). Seems worth a 20% price premium to me. But, if screen size and UI customization are what matter to you, then I'm sure you've picked the right phone. |
So you can from this deduce that it's Android's fault?
As for spec improvements: I'll admit, I'm actually surprised with them. Not that they are outpacing the industry in any way (Qualcomm, nVidia get these kinds of improvements all the time), but that they've finally fallen in line. But you have to realize that this is just the rapid pace of progress in mobile CPUs. Just wait for the next wave of chips to destroy the A7. It's just how the cycle works. However, they won't be using this fact as a justification for an unfair premium; at least they haven't been doing it yet.
