A think that most people can say that the PS3's sales have not been ideal, to say the least, in the entirety of it's young life.

However, i kind of wonder if the fact that the PS2, still extreamy active in the market and have more games in development, has effected a quick adaptation of Sony's new console.

Rather than quickly dismantle their older platform, as where Microsoft and Nintendo canned their past platforms alsmost as swiftfully as they released their new consoles, Sony has decided to keep their PS2 going and with more games to come in the following years.

Families and individuals who may not be ready for the next-gen consoles can still get a little more from the investment they made on the PS2. But those people who invested in the Niintendo and Microsoft products have been forced to buy the new console to continue their investment with them. At least the Wii and the PS3 make easier for them to change platforms, as they can play ALL the games they spent money on through the years on the ealier consoles. Where Microsoft is a 'swing and a miss' (so to say). Some games play on their new platform and some don't. I myself still have 43 games from the original Xbox that dont play on the 360. The 360 is an awesome platform, but for those of us who spent alot of money supporting their first Xbox might feel a little forgotten.

What are your thoughts this?

I definitely think this is true, and it works to Sony's advantage. People are still buying PS2s; presumably, at least SOME (if not most) of these people are buying the system for the first time. It's cheap, it has a trillion games, so why not?

The advantage is that when these people come to choose a new console, it's much more likely to be the PS3. Many of these people who waited six years and several price cuts before purchasing a system may not buy the PS3 now, but they may when the system is five years old. We'll see; it's not a garauntee by any means, but it is a positive sign for sure.
