As we saw how Sony did with the cell in regards to game optimization so if the X1 architecture is more difficult to program for properly then PS4 will be the lead platform. Conversely though MS does an immensely better job at giving out updates for dev kits which does make it easier for programmers to optimize code. Only time will tell though |
I've wondered, with all the extra Co Processors and stuff, if they had not gotten themselves into a Cell situation themselves. But other reports are good saying that it's all integrated with DirectX and most programmers will not even notice a difference. That it's all handled by the software.
Which makes the OS more of a challenge to write. But writing Operating Systems is kind of what Microsoft does best. So it's possible they could make it work. They just a big fix on the frame rate an locked at 30 for Dead Rising 3. So maybe it's possible it could work out well for them.
