The current reactionary flavor in Congress will diminish over time, especially if the GOP are stupid enough to go through on their "shut down the government if no defund the ACA," which will crush their electoral chances in 2014.
For their own good, the GOP needs to crush the Tea Party, lest the party itself become irreperably damaged
