This game is currently the #1 WiiU game in France.
France is the most into Nintendo games area besides Germany in Europe
Nintendo never advertises on television, pre-release bar some exceptions, same ol same ol imo.
TW101 actually was advertised in theater slots however. After Kamiya said the whole TW101 thing,(before the direct) it ended up getting a 4 page spot in Game Informer, a lot of spots all over the internet ( take off adblock)
Seems its the mixed reviews kinda hurting it but people will come around it.
Miiverse, a TV series and Smash Bros is this games best bet.
