Hard Drives don't care if they are mounted horizontally, vertically or even upside down or even loosly hanging via a cable. :)

Given how they work I have a bad feeling when they are not operated horizontally. With an ssd I couldn't care less, of course.

Servers, desgined to be run 24/7, come in different HDD orientations. The position of the hdd doesn't matter.

I know, we have different storage-solutions at work. Still don't have a good feeling about this.
