On another note, I find it interesting that Sega's involved in this, after apparently being unwilling to invest in Bayonetta 2.


Well most of the time this happens the animation studio funds most, if not all, of the costs of the project. Sega only sells the rights to use the characters/world/story of the property.

As for it effects depends on how well it is done. Gonzo usually makes excellent animations and stories, this can be good advertising for the upcoming game.
