I found I got much, much more emotionally involved in the story of the first game. Frankly, the first few hours of the second game probably dulled it for me somewhat--I found Roxas INCREDIBLY dull, with the obvious exception of the dual-keyblade pwnage fight with Axel.
I found 2 much more fun, gameplaywise, than the first one after the prologue.
Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?
