That made me think of the awesome mapping probes in Prometheus. So I'm pretty basic when it comes to all of this stuff but are those super impossed images or can you actually do it with video? I'm doubting you can with video but my god, if so, bring on circa 1980's music videos. |
"mapping probes" Well, not quite that advanced yet, but still super useful, as you can get a real time structural picture of an area - without having to touch it. I remember seeing a college team using it to map ice caves. I remember Kinect open many opportunists for the scientist, as it was small, portable, and relatively inexpensive.
Have you ever played with an Xbox 360 and Kinect? In Happy Action Theatre / Kinect Party I remember playing with the kids, and was amazed the first time my character was hit by lighting and turned into a skeleton! It was me - but as a silly Halloween Skeleton - followed my movements an all.
In other games, you will actually disappear - get taken out of the scene. And you can see what is behind you (well a pic it took of it.)
Instead of green/blue screen mapping, it used depth. So it is independent of colour.
I'm thinking those are real images. You can totally do it now in video. I think it real life it does a little bit better, as those halos are revealing in the images. I think it actually does a little bit better, and yes, totally 80s, lol.
