Agreed, but the Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, ZombiU, and Lego City were all discs, so I expect more of the same.  Not being from Europe, I cannot confirm 100%, but it seems that high-speed internet is expensive and therfore not as commonly subscribed to in Europe, making large downloads annoying.  Sony has released disc based versions of products in Europe that were only available as digital downloads in North America.

Monster Hunter was never bundled here. NintendoLand and ZombiU were first-day bundles, when there wasn't any eShop support for full-game downloads on WiiU yet. They had to include retail copies otherwise people wouldn't have been able to play the games. This was the same in America and Japan. Why LEGO was retail I'm not sure. It was still an early bundle though, but I thought they already had full-game download support on eShop by then. I think they just released the game digitally later back then, now every game is either digitally released simultaneously with the retail version or earlier. Which is why Wind Waker gets a digital download code, and why this Mario bundle will as well. Also, this definitely had nothing to do with internet connectivity, as high-speed internet in (Western) Europe is actually heavily subscribed, with the highest density of users and is the best/fastest in the world.


Those bundles are the ones I found by browsing Game (http://www.game.co.uk/en/hardware/wii-u/?cm_sp=topnav-_-WiiU-_-NewWiiUConsoles).

Also, seeing as those are not "new" games, Nintendo probably has lots of stock of physical discs that then can give away.
