I pretty much agree with weave.
Crafting is alot of fun, but gathering can still be tedious. I would repair that the combat, while flashy is not the strong point of the game. Actually leveling a battle class can be quite boring at times, but if you level some secondaries and get all the way to 50, you will find you have plenty of skills to use to somewhat overset the long global cooldown.
Still its a weird one. You can only use one skill and one ability per global cooldown. Once you use a skill you cant use an ability for another half a second. Its a bit clunky and doesnt flow well, but theres so much detail and such an amazing overall design with all the classes intertwining and beeing meaningful (best gear in the game is made by crafters atm, though not easy by any means to get) i cant help but admire.
If we were to make a point by point comparison to WoW:
crafting and gathering - FFXIV wins
meaningful design making every skill meaningful - FFXIV wins
rare and special encounters/events ala GW2 - FFXIV has them
Fluid and intrinsecate combat system - WoW still has a better one.
Graphics - lawl, i think its clear to everyone
Music - Amazing on FFXIV
Story - Good on FFXIV, almost non-exitant on WoW.
In my eyes though, i can see WoW players changing to this. Its overall a better game and will suck them in. Theres alot of content to keep the "slower"players in. The faster player will probably go to wildstar regardless, but theres alot of challenge here for hardcore players that want to stay.
Biggest problems: Goldspammers and movement registration delay. Makes you get hit by attacks even though you're not standing on them. would be grand if they reduced the GCD aswell though.
