| ShinmenTakezo said: My post makes no such assumptions. You are making assumtions based on my post. Devs don't have to be equal to know the specs of a machine. Just because you know the specs of a machine doesn't mean you can automatically get the best out of it. But that isn't what we were arguing about. Why do people keep trying to compare this gen to next gen? It is not a fair or accurate comparison. @bolded: That makes absolutely no sense. Do you know why these devs wish to remain anonymous? NDA and they don't want MS or Sony pissed at them. Do you know why jurnos don't give out their sources? If they did, they'd never get another interiew with an insider with inside info. That is it. It's not some crazy conspiracy where some guy talked to another guy whose mother is blowing some guy that sat next to a dev at lunch. These are most likely people with pretty good knowledge of both machines. |
@Bolded: We are not talking about specs, we are talking about developers who have experience actually coding to the PS4 and the X1. That was always the point of discussion. Yes developers do have to be measured based on past work. Why would I care about a developer who can barely make a passable game compared to someone from Naught Dog, Sony Santa Monica, Valve, ID, Dice, you name it.
You missed the point of comparison with last gen. The point is not about the hardware but the capabilities of different developers. I was using last gen to show that even high profile developers like Carmack and Gabe can have a negative opinion but it does not mean the hardware is not up to the task. I used last gen to show that all developers are not equal, that you have some that are ahead of other companies. This doesn't really change with new hardware unless you get a lot of turnaround within those companies.
You are stating the obvious on the bolded point. I am telling you without knowing the source it could be anyone. Hell, it could be the janitor who overheard a conversation for all we know. It doesn't need to be a conspiracy but then with anything you still have to take any anon source with a grain of salt. When the NDAs are over and the consoles are out, then we will be getting info from sources that do not have to hide behind anon that we can measure their capabilities to determine the validity of comments. Maybe its mean but I just do not take the word of someone just because they happen to be writing for a website. I do the same for things like the News. Just because a Jorno tells me something doesn't mean I do not vex what they say for any slant.
