Why do people care so much about the last guardian? Would it actually even sell well?

Squaresoft created a long list of high quality PSX titles, all of which were some of the best RPGs or action platformers ever created.  Didn't stop them from putting out a lot worse quality after the launch of the PS2.

That's because Hironobu Sakaguchi left the company, so the quality of JRPGs went way down.
