The simple solution is provide choice to the market and let it dictate the direction the market goes.  When you try to force things by removing choice, that is when th eproverbial excrement hits the fan.

M$ did offer a choice.  XB1 or PS4.  People were choosing the PS4, so M$ changed the policy.  The irony is that it will probably be the definition of gaming on both systems within 3 years.
