the PS3 could do 1080P 60FPS...
Wipeout HD: Fury has this. It just have very very few moving parts.
I significantly prefer 60FPS with a high resolution, with the extra effects the least important in my view. Whether it gets up to 60 FPS, is ofcourse optimization of the engine, and/or how many effects the dev wants to reduce.
