You need 2 of said unit or more.  Since you do not have at least two whole millions, you can't say it's millions.


if your using an exact number, you never add the s.   You dont say "i dont 6millions miles" or "i saw 4millions birds"   the s is added to the noun


But you know why it's like that, right?  It's because when you say "6 million," the grammar structure automatically puts the plurality into the number.  That's why you can't say "100 millions" but you can say "hundreds of millions" because it's 2 or more 100 millions.
