Of course it felt like I missed some part of the storyline, but KH2 story didn't d it, everything in KH2 storyline was explained in KH2, it's only the impact of KH2 storyline on the whole universe that needed the understanding of COM. (<- Weird and too long phrasing)


That really doesn't provide enough context, though. I'm sure if I was more familiar with the story it would imply more, but a lot of the images are disconnnected and don't make a lot of sense on their own. Kind of like the beginning of the first game, which I didn't understand too well either.

As far as the story of KH2 goes, I refer to the previous questions I thought needed answering. Who are Roxas and Axel and why do they matter? What is Organization XIII and what happened to its other members? What was with the letter?

Roxas and Axel are nobodies.  Nobodies are created when a heartless is created.  Heartless being the heart and nobody being the body.  Nobodies are drones who "think" they have feelings/emotions because they remember they had them.  They don't though, so their "emotions" are faked.  Roxas is Sora's nobody that was created with he became a heartless.  Namine's Kairi's nobody since her heart was taken by Sora in Kingdom Hearts 1.  Axel is a nobody that joined Organization XIII, just like everyone else.  This is in the notes and is talked about in Kingdom Hearts 2.  You don't have to play Chain of Memories to get this explaination.  The thing they didn't explain was how the castle that Sora, Donald, and Goofy went to when looking for Riku, fragmented their memories in the universe.  Well, they explain it in notes later on, but this is missing from the beginning that gave me a WTF?
