There's 2 of ALL 4 characters on the cover, people. Each char is shown in regular form AND in their cat-suit form, which makes perfect sense. Also, the Nintendo Network logo will be on EVERY first party game for Wii U because of MiiVerse.
To the OP, I think the boxart looks nice, although not quite as nice as some of the other gems they've had recently and others still coming. Is it just me or has Nintendo been kind of on a roll with boxarts over the past year or 2?
