Hency why I put "spinoffs" in quotes. Because if they were actually spinoffs, I wouldn't have a problem since I wouldn't need to play them to understand.
However, since they're part of the main series in all but name, I pretty much have to play them to understand what's going on, and the way it's strucutred makes that infuriatingly difficult. It's like if Halo 1 and Halo 4 were on Xbox 360, while Halo 2 was on PS3, Halo 3 was on PSP, and Halo: Reach was on Wii.
