No, I've seen developers who never really bothered with handhelds jump on the mobile bandwagon. Until you start seeing major handheld franchises jump to mobile (so if Monster Hunter or something like that were to go completely iOS/Android exclusive), you can't say there's been a shift. In some instances there are additional iOS/Android games in handheld franchises, like with Layton, but a complete shift of focus? Nah. (I think this prediction is crazy.) |
I didn't say there was a complete shift from dedicated handhelds to smart devices. I just said that companies aknowledge the quick growth in the mobile space and are shifting resources towards it.
Just look at companies like Square-Enix, EA, Activision and Capcom for example. They are all creating lots and lots of games for smart devices and it only continues to expand each year.
To me 3DS, Vita, iOS, Android = Handheld gaming.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
Currently playing:
Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)
